Individual Counseling
This counseling entails personalized work to help individuals overcome specific challenges or to attain their goals. Common challenges include: depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, phobias, compulsions, problems with work / career goals, chronic illness, relationship problems, challenges related to sex issues or grief.
Couples / Marriage Counseling
Couples counseling is typically relationship-focused. Usually couples are looking for better ways to interact with each other. Sometimes a safe, neutral environment with an unbiased facilitator can be just what couples need to resolve deep-seated frustrations, hurts or conflicts. This work is often recommended for couples planning a marriage. It can also help save marriages that are at risk of failure.
Family Counseling
Families are very complicated and emotion-filled systems. Our families can be sources of great joy or great pain. Our family experiences also shape who we are and how we view the world. Family counseling usually involves exploring family “rules”, roles and relationships from a “systems” perspective to reveal how family members and environments impact each other, and to learn betterways of interacting so everyone’s needs are met.
Group Counseling
Group counseling is intended to help individuals who share a common experience or challenge to learn together how tobest handle their circumstances. This is a cost-effective way of treating problems. Some group work involves psycho-educational components (where the group learns things about their shared issue). Real advantages come from a sense of “shared common experiences”, because individuals feel less alone. Individual group members are able to support each other, learn from each other and sometimes challenge each other to attain higher levels of functioning.
